Some AFG love.........

Post by fireglo67 »

Well done for a fabulous job done by the folks at Rick on this colour.
And you just know it's gonna age beautifully, in 15/20 years this is still going to look so cool.

This is what sets Rickenbacker apart from the pack.
Quality, style and class, all in one perfect package.

Oh, yes. And they look even better with crushed pearl inlays. Here's a conversion that I just completed for a customer...this '08 AFG 620 was one of the last with the old style triangular inserts. The inserts had to be resized with a dovetail saw and then removed with a small router, all by hand:

This required that the binding be removed and the guitar de-fretted. The new crushed pearl inserts are in place in the photo below, which also shows the new binding and frets, and the red marker dots I added, just as a vintage "bonus" for the owner:

Paul, those new crushed pearl inlays are incredible! Nice work. How much trial and error was involved in getting the inlay material to look so "vintage-correct"?

Most of the work was in locating a material to give it the look.

Thanks for the kind comments, guys, and, Bob? Sorry for the shift in focus. Your AFG 360 is a beauty--just the right old FG shade for my taste.

Mateybob.......Wow, not to doubt you but is that AFG hue really tending towards the orange/brown side? It looks like a mix between AFG and Montezuma Brown. Cool color tone, brah. Props to you on your new addition. Late.......Goofyfoot.
Play on, pick often, jam with any Rickenbacker, and prosper.
