Uh...

:?:

Well, at least we know he went on to play harmonica, like Dylan! :D

Nice "bow" photo. Do we know the story behind the lack of BEATLES logo on the bass drum??

Good question. From the non-matching suits, I would think that the photo was from an Ed Sullivan Show rehearsal.
Dont know if that explains it since I think the Beatles logo was painted on the drumhead.... not all that removable.
Still, when their suits match, the logo is there.

A similar drumhead during a preshow camera test with Neil standing in for an ailing George.

That's not Ringo's set. Ludwig provided a set at each concert so they saved on trucking around more gear. I believe they carried the Beatles' logo head with them. Ludwig (probably Manny's?) provided the Black Pearl set for the actual Sullivan broadcast (all this IIRC).

(edit. course I'm talking about the photo with Neil standing in for George).

they didn't haul a drum kit around? So they would put in their drum head each time?

hmmmm.... this site http://www.beatlesuits.com/Beatlesuits_ ... nHeads.htm says that they didn't bring one to America but then bought a couple and carried them around.....

It was decided that the Beatles would travel to America as light as possible for their first visit. The decision was made that Ringo would travel without his drum kit. Only his snare drum and cymbals would make the trip along with the new front drum skin. A new set of drums would be purchased when they arrived in the States. The reason for this was that a second kit was going to be needed in any case. Once the Beatles returned from America, filming was going to commence on their film, A Hard Days Night. One drum kit would be needed on the film set and, since the soundtrack was going to be recorded at the same time during breaks in the schedule, a second kit would be needed at Abbey Road. The powers that be concluded it was easier to pick up the new set in America, rather than carry the old one over.

I know.... it's a great one. Only recently started to appear on the internet.
I wonder what THIS sign would sell for at Sothebys

You wouldn't have wanted Lennon around your record collection. Notice his old Guild Starfire at the bottom.
