Not unless it's Fender Custom Shop bog paper; it has the custom shop logo on it.kenf wrote:Is that a roll of bog paper on top of the amp?

Re: Forum Members Must Wash Hands After Viewing
There is some precedent for MOTS amps; lots of steel amps in the '37-'53 period were MOTS-covered, especially the Maggies, which often came kitted out to match the guitar, as a set.
The Strat is simply too lush a shape to do that to (and then they did the guard, too--why not the neck and fretboard, one wonders?
The touring-style case makes no sense, except that it would have been cheap and easy to do, compared with a classic Fender, curved, end-bound case, which would have to be made with custom tooling by an outside vendor, would be nightmarish and expensive. A touring case is flat sheets and aluminum extrusions. But, conceptually, why a touring case when the whole set seems to be a stab at late '40s-style nostalgia, and protection aside, this guitar would never tour?
Besides, the light sandalwood color of the MOTS looks awful with extruded aluminum's dull anodized silver.

My experience has been that when the word 'encrusted' is employed, it's usually code for 'produced exclusively for the upper caste':
I didn't get where I am today by being on time...

...unless, of course, one is referring to 'zircon' and 'tweezers':

"Encrusted" is the wrong word, anyway. They're not "crusty".
Instead, I propose, "ensleazed".
"Just-a raisin' it up, and waxin' it down..."

That's right! "...in a little white box, that I can sell uptown..."
Mitch's original post referred to 'moto' encrusted...then Paul used the acronym 'MOTS'...don't know which one's right, in fact I don't know 'WTF' we're talking about at all...but I took the liberty of looking up the various definitions of 'mots', and here's what I got:
MOTS Member of the Opposite Sex
MOTS Military Off-The-Shelf
MOTS More of the Same
MOTS Mysteries of the Sith (Lucasarts Star Wars game)
MOTS Match of the Season (gaming)
MOTS Modified Off The Shelf
MOTS Mobile Tower System (Army)
MOTS Member of Technical Staff
MOTS Mother of Toilet Seat (imitation mother of pearl)
MOTS Modified, Off-the-Shelf Software
MOTS Minitrack Optical Tracking System
MOTS Money On The Spot
MOTS Mobile on the Spot (India, prepaid card)
MOTS Module Test Set
MOTS Mobile Optical Tracking System
MOTS Multi Organ Transplant Service (London Health Sciences Centre, Canada)
MOTS Mensa of the South (magazine)
Of course, in this context, I favor "Money On The Spot" and "More Of The Same", but I suppose the usage here refers to 'Mother Of Toilet Seat'...
So, I guess, at least one of the pix I posted was 'on topic'...

I mean, that's the Liberace of guitars and that's doing a terrible disservice to Liberace.

Well I have to tell you boys that we made the guitar case for this set, this was the first project we did with Fender Custom Shop back in 1994. John Page and Fred Stuart came up with this combo very tongue in cheek and they were only too pleased that I was prepared to build a matching case.

Not knocking the case, Robert. It's the concept that wasn't worked out very well. Fender's issue, not yours.
