Sounds cool Jeff.
I just talked to Marc at Dr. Bass and decided to go with a DRB115-NEO cab, with dimensions to match the Markbass 102HF for stacking purposes. I hope to have it by mid-July but it seems like it might be a bit earlier. I think this will be a killer rig. Can't wait!
I did look into the Schroeder cabs too and loved how light their 15+ cab was (30 lbs!). The DRB will be 43 lbs, so still not too bad. The Schroeder was a bit more expensive and not front ported like I was looking for.

Don't count on it!squirefan01 wrote:SI hope to have it by mid-July but it seems like it might be a bit earlier.

He tends to run a bit slow. Marc and I first discussed the 2-12 cabinet on Feb 10th with a 4-6 week delivery time...maybe I will see it next week, maybe!

Hmmm, bummer. I told him more than once that I definitely needed it by 7/17, and he said they were 90% caught up so he told me I'd have it by then. We'll see.

Maybe you'll get lucky.

Well, this is the perfect forum for having folks who can empathize with dealing with an unknown waiting period for a quality work of art!

So I got my Markbass 102HF cab the other day. Sounds awesome with the LMKII! So clean and great punch. Fantastic with the fretless!
Looking forward to pairing it up with the Dr. Bass 115 in a few months!

I am supposedly going to get my new Dr. Bass cabinet this or next week, but he has been telling me that for a month now!

After you mentioned your delays, I had just gotten my invoice from Dr. Bass and so I wrote again to Marc and talked to him, saying I'd pay him as soon as I knew the date was a sure thing for him. He said it was so I paid them. But, I know how it goes once we head down this path so I'll just keep my fingers crossed.

Three words...Low Down Sound. If I had known I would have called Don, instead!

I got mr Dr. Bass DRB115 cab on Saturday. It was due 7/17 but got to me 7/25. That's fine and Marc was very cool about respecting my request for on-time delivery. He was great to work with. It's a great cab and mixes very well with the Markbass 210 and LMKII head. The Dr. Bass guys altered the standard dimensions of this custom built cab so the Markbass sits perfectly on top of it. It shakes the house!
Re: Right cabinets to go with Markbass LMKII head?
I have pretty much given up on getting my new Dr. Bass cabinet; Marc did send me a loaner DRB212 that I guess will be my cabinet for keeps.

Re: Right cabinets to go with Markbass LMKII head?
Sorry to hear that Jeff.
It does seem a little crazy there and I can see how they would slip dates, especially if they are given any opportunity to do so. Like I told Marc at the beginning, I used to do auto body work for about 10 years and the last place I worked before I went back to college did alot of custom restoration work on really nice cars. We could have cars in there for years and if an owner said anything about taking our time that was a kiss of death for his car. If a customer came in and laid out exactly what time line was important to him though, we could match that and the quality did not suffer, or if it was just not possible he would be told that and he could go elsewhere, no harm done. Like I said, Marc was good about that and did pretty well in the end.
It probably helped that I said I wanted my money back last week if he couldn't get it to me (and at the beginning he told me he'd give me my money back if it wasn't ready on time). There was a nice Ashdown close by that I would have picked up. I did really want the front porting though and didn't find other 1x15 cabs that had that. Markbass had one but discontinued it for some reason.
I hope you get yours sometime!

Marc told me the cab would be shipped 4-6 weeks after our initial conversation; that was on February 10th!
Ever since then he has come up with one excuse after another for not getting my cab done and delivered. I have asked repeatedly for photos of the cabinet under construction, so far no pics have shown up in my inbox. Probably because there is nothing to take a photo of.

I was going to mention LDS. While I haven't worked with them personally, I have heard great things about them.jps wrote:Three words...Low Down Sound. If I had known I would have called Don, instead!
Since they're local, I should really try harder to get something from LDS.
