Functional, but looks horrible.

I used to have an Epiphone Les Paul 12 string. It wasn't a conversion, it was originally built as a 12 string. It was a great sounding guitar. I swapped the humbuckers for Phat Cats and put some more stable tuners on it and it was really nice.

C'mon...it's not April 1st yet!

Everytime I think I've seen the ugliest thing that somebody could do to a poor unsuspecting piece of wood and metal, I am surprised by somebody who has raised the ante.

God, this is a nightmare! But, I don't laugh at nightmares, so it must be a tragicomedy.

I think there's still room for some more tuners on that headstock.

I had that idea about 15 years ago, before I got my first 12-string. Now I'm glad I never followed through!

I did, however, around that same time, try to make a Jackson 4-string bass into an 8-string. I went and bought a drill bit that was the size of the hole the existing tuners fit in, and used a hand-crank-drill, whatever you call those. Yeah, huge. We didn't know to drill pilot holes, etc. We didn't know anything at all, really. We split the headstock in two. The neck and fretboard are intact, I probably still have it rattling around somewheres! I know I have the tuners somewhere.... or did I give those to someone? I can't remember. Am I rambling yet?

Some people shouldn't be given sharp objects.

Good thing they've been removed from my proximity or you'd be LYAO at me too   I defer to my betters now when it comes to ideas involving power tools, thank goodness ...

A quote from his description:

" * The guitar headstock is not symmetrical. Examining it closely reveals subtle differences between each side of the headstock – presumably for aesthetics.
* A need to fit the extra pegs in a way that will not unduly weaken the headstock – this may mean offsetting pegs rather than having them all in a straight line."

Yeah, subtle. Uh-huh, strong.

This boy lives in his head and needs to get out more.

Danger..........

MVP lives!!

But then again, he most likely wouldn't be quite as articulate and he doesn't live in the UK.

Note how the octave string for the 6th (low E) is just about off the frets.

There's some interesting reading via the link to the Epihone forum at the bottom of the page. One poster mentions the possible difficulty of playing it due to the tuners right near the nut. I think he has a point.............
