I think it got caught stealing in Saudi Arabia.

Just think, though--there's now space in the case for a coupla bottles of Heineken (or Grolsch...) and a ham and Swiss on rye with mustard.

Or two.

Moral: Ugliness has its hidden beauty.

No, they chop off your hand for stealing, not your head. Now, is some parts of the middle east, just being from America can get your head chopped off...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Jon states:
Looking a the pic of the (former) headstock, it does look like this might have suffered a pretty cataclysmic head break.
Ya know, if that had happened, I'd be ok with this. At least something came out of a bad situation to resurrect it.

I wish - I'd buy it myself as an oddity if so! Here in Rip-off Britain I think if he'd (sensibly) done a 99p no reserve auction, that would still be good for at least £600. Obviously as it stands, no-one's going to touch it.

I think they are Hohner parts not genuine Steinberger bits. The Hohner parts are pot metal rather than brass. The "licenced" mark on the bridge is also the giveaway.
I've had Steinbergers and they have their place but trying to make one out of somthing else is a no-no....

They are - B2A Steiny copy or The Jack bass. That's where the pickups are from too.

I don't think there's any original Rick hardware left on this apart from the jackplate - wonder if the "creator" of this just bought it as a wrecked body/neck, the rest of the parts having already been scavenged?

It probably never was. I would really like to see under that pick guard.

Why does the binding extend beneath the bridge?

I thought real Rics didn't have that. WTF is this thing? No original pickups, no original headstock, nor TRC, no original bridge...

Is this thing actually a Ric at all?

It looks like it is not binding under the tailpiece, but a cutout. I think it was a real Rick in its previous life; before it became "undead."

I just had this horrible thought that somewhere out there is a Hohner B2A that has a Rickenbacker headstock and tailpiece on it! :?

I disagree with, well, all of you. I think it looks and could be pretty awesome.

Oh well... that's just me.
