Ah, I missed that too--I was confused by the original post. As posted above, I'd still have an open mind about the sound though--maybe a little Vox-like but with better reverb?paologregorio wrote:The ad text description on the MF site says "Jensen C-12K", but that's a generic cut and paste description of the standard Fender Deluxe Reverb amp that MF included in the ad by mistake. The rear view photo clearly shows the amp equipped with a Celestion Alnico Blue speaker.johneek wrote:OK...I'm often a little slow, but it appears to me that the amp in question has a Jensen C-12K, not a Celestion Blue....or am I missing something?![]()
I think the Blue speaker might cause the amp to break up too early for my taste.

Ditto that! I like a bit of headroom on an amp. To my ears, the main reason for having a lower wattage amp is that the tone warms/comes alive up at a lower volume, not that it breaks up at a lower volume.sloop_john_b wrote:+1. Re: I'm feeling a little Blue...
I've seen some in white tolex that looked pretty good, I don't know if that was a standard color, a special run, or a custom shop deal. The twin I saw supposedly belonged to one of the Beach Boys. If Marshall can do it with red, white, blue, purple, snakeskin-whatever, why not Fender? Unless I'm missing something, isn't this just a reissue deluxe with blue tolex? Why would this sound any different than a black one?
I agree about change itself being good thing, whether the change is a success or not. Look how much Rickenbacker guitars here have changed in the last 10 years. Big headstock, little headstock, old high gain, new high gain, coy, 12 string headstocks cut through(thank you!)and all of the other changes I can't think of. Fender seems to have about 10 new models of guitars everytime I get my flurry of monthly mailers from the big boxes, so why not try to spice up an old standard and fly it up the flagpole and see who salutes it. Gotta talk about something to increase sales in those board meetings in Scotsdale, AZ.
Having said that, IMHO, that color blue is completely wrong. A little darker, deeper blue(not a lot)would have made that amp more appealing to me anyways. The best way I can describe it is that the color doesn't look real, it looks like a cartoon color The way it looks now, I just wanna call Hanna Montana and tell her that her amp is here
We're probably not too far away from ordering the amp online with a color swatch scanned to them so they can make the amp any color you want. Just like those paint machines at Walmart, mix you up any color, and sell it to you as your own 1 off signature model with a certificate of authenticity. Egadz

I don't; when your truck breaks down, that's a change from it running smoothly, but that's not good.whojamfan wrote:I agree about change itself being good thing, whether the change is a success or not.
Ditto that; a deeper blue would look better; that blue tolex is practially neon-I feel like I need to wear shades when I look like it. The shade also reminds me of the garish colors painted on the walls of clubs in Tijuana or Rosarita Mexico-ok for the clubs, not so ok on the amp, which is covered in tolex that's louder, figuratively speaking, than the volume the amp's capable of producing.whojamfan wrote:Having said that, IMHO, that color blue is completely wrong. I'm just wondering when Fender will come out with the road worn & relic series of amps...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Actually, I think a guy I know had a reliced Fender amp. Maybe a Custom Shop thing? It was really cool, actually.cjj wrote:I'm just wondering when Fender will come out with the road worn & relic series of amps...

I don't really think much more could break down on it Paul, so if the dang thang ran for more than 3 weeks without issue, that would be change. Oh great, what's that rattling sound....................paologregorio wrote:I don't; when your truck breaks down, that's a change from it running smoothly, but that's not good.whojamfan wrote:I agree about change itself being good thing, whether the change is a success or not.![]()

They've had a relic '59 Bassman reissue on offer for a couple of years at least.cjj wrote:I'm just wondering when Fender will come out with the road worn & relic series of amps...
