Your favorite amp?

We all have our favorite amps.

I know people who think Marshall and Hiwatt half-stacks kick major [butt] and the louder they are, the better. I know people who think the Fender Twin Reverb is as good as it gets and nothing can be any better. We have a bunch of people on here who think that the Vox AC-30 is the best.

My favorite amp is a Fender Deluxe Reverb '65 reissue. I thought it was going to be a puny little amp with not a lot of sound and the Twin was the best. But I was wrong, the Deluxe is my favorite amp. Now, I've never played through a AC-30, so I don't know how good it is. I have played a Twin before, very loud amp and too powerful for the home playing I do 98% of the time.

I love `em both. I use an AC30 most of the time for live work, but I am also quite fond of the Fender Black Face circuit in either its Twin or Super Reverb forms.

I have my eye on a Vox AC 15. I prefer it to the AC 30 because it weighs less. And the AC30 is just more amp than I think I need. The price for the AC 15 is also quite attractive, too.

I miss my old Ampeg VT-22, a twin-sized combo with a V4 amp with 2X12 speakers. Gotta get me some more Ampeg!

The old Ampeg guitar amps are pretty cool! I have a `68 Ampeg Reverbojet on indefinite loan in my music room that's pretty cool. It's Ampeg's version of the Deluxe Reverb. 1x12 CTS Alnico speaker, reverb, tremolo, bright and normal channels.

The amp that's currently getting the most air time is a Fender CVR. I bought it used, and it's been re-speakered, but I forget what speakers are in it (also too lazy at the moment to walk to the other room to check ), but whatever they are they sound good.

I like this amp so much I'm seriously considering selling my CC2X.

Mine is either a Mesa-Boogie Mark II or my brother's Ampeg Reverbrocket, though a friend recently got a Fender '65 Deluxe RI which is very nice. If I had to settle for one it would be the Boogie, though I play mostly through a Line6 Flextone - its versatility is hard to beat.

I've been having fun with my Traynor YCV20WR, which now has a Celestion Blue instead of the Greenback that it was originally equipped with.

Vibrolux channel, Bassman channel, Modern channel. Tube sweetness + plus lots of clean headroom + Fender tone = perfect mate for my Ric.

I love my little Traynor YCV20 and Roland JC120, of course, but the Fender surpasses everything else I've played for versatility and tactility. I A/B'd it with Bogner, Matchless, Vox, other Fenders, Dr.Z, Orange, etc. when I was shopping but kept coming back to the Super Sonic. Lots of great amps out there, that's for sure, but I have my Holy Grail.

Rivera Sedona, the only all-tube acoustic/electric amp around, AFAIK. It comes equipped with a 12" JBL speaker, 5 x 12AX7 preamp tubes, 2 x EL34 power tubes, and large transformers. Built like a tank with military-grade components. I'm happy as a clam at high tide. Late.......Goofyfoot.

Old school is my thing. Marshall SLP 100, Hiwatt DR103, Vox AC30 and a Matamp GTO are all tied for me. They all sound good with either guitar and bass, except the Vox. Double duty!

Sad to say that my previous faves are still my faves.

The DC30 clone through my 2x12" Avatar cabinet probably makes the best sounds with my single coil Rickenbackers, but my THD Flexi is just really unbeatable: with a quick tube change and bias, I can make it sound like nearly any amp I like, and it doesn't care what is plugged into it.

Honorable mentions: I sometimes use a Motion Sound rotary speaker cab for Ric-O-Sound stuff (bright tone on the neck pickup) and the combination with one of the above amps is very nice- even if I'm running the other amp with some distortion. I used to use a Roland JC120 the same way with a Mesa Boogie Mk3. I actually liked the Roland better than the Mesa, but they played very nicely together.
