FIA verses FOTA
FIA verses FOTA
I know we have some Formula 1 fans on here, just wondered how they felt about the current storm a brewing between FIA ,F1 and FOTA,
I personally feel that this split is long overdue, having been involved in Professional Motorsport for many years and witnessed the arrogance and stubbourness of Balestre back in 1986 who was then head of the FIA when he ignored the pleas from the top WRC drivers to change the format of events to suit the powerfull Grp B super cars, only to witness the death of a close friend in Rally Corsica a few weeks later.
For me it is like witnessing a re-run but this time Moselstone if you get what I mean

Re: FIA verses FOTA
I think the sport has become over-regulated, so maybe the major teams need to split off like they were threatening a couple years ago to do. Bernie is screwing around with F1 way too much with these local night/late afternoon races to suit the European audiences, and with the split tiered regulations (cost capped teams), there is no unity within the sport. I suppose one way around this is to make it more like the ALMS or FIA-GT series, with different classifications, but then it would still be a different sport than it currently is.
Re: FIA verses FOTA
yes jeffrey, I also think that revenue generated should go back to the teams and race circuits, after all they are the ones spending all the money to put on the spectacle and not to greedy empire builders. The FOTA teams should also set the rules and ammendments on unanamous agreement with each other.
I hate the way things are at present when F1 boss and the FIA levy ridiculous multi million dollar fines against teams at their whim.

Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.
Re: FIA verses FOTA
I keep waiting for Mark to win; it must be very frustrating for him.
Re: FIA verses FOTA
This is indeed good news, obviously a huge dent in Max Moseleys Ego. It shouldn,t take actions like the FOTA teams to start their own championship before the FIA re-acts to their requests. I also would love to see Mark win one.
Also good to see Moseley prepared to step down, but not altogether Happy with the prospect of Todt taking over if rumors are correct.

Re: FIA verses FOTA
I hadn't heard that about Todt, very interesting, indeed.

Something for them to talk about during pre-race! Good news.....especially Moseley stepping down. Now he can hone his Nazi bondage porn craft!
Re: FIA verses FOTA
Well, the FIA~FOTA situation continues to navigate more twists and turns.
