I'm a big fan of old-time radio shows as found on the internet today. The work is all public domain and legally downloadable for your listening pleasure.
This is from one of my favorite old-time sci-fi shows called Dimension X. They employed some of the finest writers of the day, including Ray Bradbury, Poul Anderson, and even Issac Asimov. Here's one of my favorite episodes that offers an alarming prediction about the possible effects of the digital revolution on developing minds. even though they didn't put it in those terms. Listen and cringe for yourself as you take a dire look at a "Future Nursery". (30 min.)
Now, where's my popcorn?

Re: Old Time Radio Sci-Fi Classics: Dimension X
I have some "Dimension X" on cassette tape. I think I bought them back in the late 80's/early 90's.
When I was around 12 - 15 years old, I'd listen to the CBS Radio Mystery Theater hosted by E.G. Marshall on WBBM radio out of Chicago. I think it was the last network radio show to continue into the 1970's. It was where I first fell in love with the sound of the bass clarinet. It was in the theme music when the show started. They seem to always use them for "scary" stuff (old Twilight Zone shows, Star Trek, etc.).

Thanks KIra, I'll check this out. It ought to be great listening!
Re: Old Time Radio Sci-Fi Classics: Dimension X
You're welcome, Paul
That show was one of the very best. Other favorites of mine are Gunsmoke, Broadway Is My Beat, Dragnet, The Jack Benny Program, oh, my list is long.
This is terrific entertainment, especially if you don't have extra money to spend. It's much better than modern television, IMO. Watch out or you might get addicted

Re: Old Time Radio Sci-Fi Classics: Dimension X
We subscribe to an internet "radio" service, has just about any sort of music you'd want, pretty cheap too. Anyway, they have a couple of "stations" that play the old mystery/who-dun-it/serials. Really fun stuff. Those shows had a lot more going for them than most of what's on TV anymore. I suppose that, with the lack of visual imagery to keep your attention, they had to resort to more drastic measures such as good writing...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
