When Using Rick-O-Sound....

I am not a member of the Super-Exclusive, Secret Society Of Actual Rick-O-Sound Box Owners so I am just using a stereo Y cable split to two mono plugs.

I use the Y cable to split to two separate amps and when the toggle on the guitar is in the middle I get bassy in one amp and trebly in the other. I can set one amp one way, the second amp another way and get some fantastic sounds. But when I flick the pickup selector on the guitar either up or down, I only get sound from one amp depending upon which way I flick the selector. Is that supposed to happen that way? Middle selector gets two signals going to two separate amps; but bass or treble selector only goes to one amp?

That is correct, as you are selecting only one or the other pickup when the switch is not in the middle; that is the whole point of ROS.

Thanks. I thought I'd be able to play, say, the treble pickup through both amps. If that's not the way it works, well, then I'm glad mine is working the way it was intended. I'll just stick with the middle pickup position -- get neck pickup into one amp, bridge pickup into the other -- and color my amps accordingly.

Yup, that's how it's suppose to work, even with the official Ric-O-Sound box...

The only Ricks you could do what you thought you could do (got that? ) are the ones with double mono outputs like the 360V64 and 360/12V64.

It is stock. Those from '84-'88 were wired for ROS. '88 was a weird year for the V64's...first ROS, then a single mono jack. By around '89 or '90 is was dual mono.
