No worries, Paul. All the more power to you for making it your own thing. Great to see another '79 4001 JG! That was my first Rick - still have it. Here's me in 1982 after I first got it. No comments about MY fashion sense, please.

I've posted this same photo somewhere here on the forum before. Can't remember where. Sorry if this is a repeat.

I had a couple of pairs of those Nike Bruins back in the day, and for the first couple of years of high school I had a shorter version of the same haircaut, IIRC. I think if you didn't wear your hair something akin to that style you got your butt kicked back then. :)

That's probably why you never get your butt kicked!

Paul - my hair was actually quite a bit longer before I got that bass, but I had to hack if off up above the shoulder line to get the dishwashing job which ended up paying for that bass and the amplifiers I bought for it. My girlfriend at the time actually cried when I got it cut! But about a year later my hair was long again - so I had my bass and ate my hair, too, or whatever the saying is.

Paul -- wasn't there another thread here on the Forum for posting pictures of doing a "Windmill" ? :D

Or was the thread for teaching others how do do a Windmill ?

Cheers

Yeah, I still have it! .... and you can't have it back!

That combo of the V63, Sunn Sorado and the Ampeg SVT is killer.....

Hey RC - Welcome to the forum!

That's one sweet looking bass. Love the finish and the full-width inlays. I'll bet it sounds sweet, too.

~HOWEVER~

I can't help but grimace at the sight of the P-bass pickups and the porch-sized pick guard add-on. And I can only imagine the routing horrors that lay beneath. I totally appreciate that this is by design, and understand that everyone's entitled to their artistic expression without being subjected to harsh scrutiny, but my fingers seem to be typing of their own will at this moment can't... control... must... fight... against... strong... willed... fingers...

I know; I'll distract my fingers with a barrage of questions:

What year is this bass? Are you the original owner? If so, what was your incentive for doing the P-bass hybrid treatment? Do you still have the original bridge pickup? Have you considered returning the bass to stock? (or at least as close as you can get.)

Quick question guys. Why is it that whenever a bass isn't close to looking stock people have a fit?
