Autographed bass

Post by DBR »

Hello folks,
If an infamously known Ric player autographs a vintage 4001pickguard, would the value deteriorate? The said unit is still mounted on the bass and plain as the day it was manufactured. Thanks :?:

Well, it all depends on who does the signing and who is looking at it. If it's someone who likes said person, the value may increase, if they don't like them, the value may decrease...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Being that it's on the pickguard, it probably wouldn't decrease the value much, and for the 'right' autograph, somebody might consider that worth something extra. As CJ said, it's dependent on a number of factors.

Thanks Folks,
Going to catch Yes this week. I'll let you know if Mr. S signs it or not. I'm going to keep the pickguard on the bass.

You can always get a correct replacement from someone like pickguardian, and keep your signed one in a safe place.

Thanks for the replies, folks. I met CS last night. He did autograph the bass. He asked me where, I suggested a certain spot. He didn't agree so he decided to where and what pen to use. He told me it wont rub off. I was in awe all night. Yes and Asia...what a great lineup. Had a great time. Saw an acquaintance that now works at the venue as a head tech. Pretty cool. Got to meet and talk with CS for a minute. No photos taken of us together, though. My lady did, however get in a picture with him. I am so grateful just to have shook his hand and knowing he had leg surgery and he's doing fine. All-in-all...a great evening. :D :D :D :D :) :) :) :)

You mean, sort of like this one, taken at the HOB in L.A. before RIC's 75th anniversary concert.

Ric, that's a great story! Where did Chris sign your bass? 8)

...and Jeff, I think your picture is a Photoshop job. The lighting is all wrong

Hello Folks,

I asked C.S. not to freak out at the mod work. I lifted the lid and his tired eyes opened up as wide as his head with a "whoa! hmmm..." look on his face. I offered it to him and he laid his hands upon it and soon after it got up and walked! It's signed just below the front pickup in Silver. MD 1550 has now been Chris-tened!

Ric, that's a great story! After the laying of hands by the master I can imagine your bass would well get up and walk!

Jeff, you know I was just hoping for more "proof" after all. And how cool for Dane, too! Congratulations and sorry if I don't recognize any other members in the pic. :D

Seems like I took that picture, Jeff. I think I was standing there. I know I took some for somebody.

I can't remember who sent that to me! That certainly can not possibly be age related, can it?

I believe Richard Bengston took that series of photos. From left, Jeff whispering sweet somethings into CS's ear, CS, unknown, and me. Thanks, Richard!
