No place to display our Ricks? Will it be a day of performances only?

No, there will be display as well; the floor area between the seats and the stage is quite large. Display areas more than sufficient to accomodate everyone's Rickenbackers will be set up on either side of the floor area for most of the day, then cleared for the evening performances.shamustwin wrote:No place to display our Ricks? I suppose this is a good time to ask about hotels in the area...sounds like it's in the general area of last year's festivities - so the Holiday Inn or DoubleTree would maybe fit the bill? Or maybe a Marriott (I have awards points
)

Here is a general idea where the Yost is with respect to the Holiday Inn in Santa ANA:windchimp wrote:I suppose this is a good time to ask about hotels in the area...sounds like it's in the general area of last year's festivities - so the Holiday Inn or DoubleTree would maybe fit the bill? (map from Yahoo Maps)
The "A" in the map above is the location of the Yost Theater, 307 N Spurgeon Street, Santa Ana CA 92701. The distance between the Holiday Inn and the theater is 3.5 miles. I haven't mapped the Double Tree, but it's probably only 1-2 miles more. There are probably other hotels/motels in the area, too.

JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!

Thanks Gary - fortunately I know the lay of the land pretty well around there from my business travels. I was mistaken - it's not a DoubleTree I was thinking of - there's an Embassy Suites right around the corner from the Holiday Inn on Dyer where I have stayed before. I'm going to try to work this in with a business trip to Ontario the week following...I need to engage my powers of persuasion...doctorwho wrote:Here is a general idea where the Yost is with respect to the Holiday Inn in Santa ANA:windchimp wrote:I suppose this is a good time to ask about hotels in the area...sounds like it's in the general area of last year's festivities - so the Holiday Inn or DoubleTree would maybe fit the bill? I haven't been in that area since my year at UC Irvine back in '73.
So is there a cost and can sucky guitar players come? I'm a geezer who started trying to play when I turned 50.
I can play rythym to a lot of Petty songs and "Mr. Tambourine Man".

Welcome to the Forum, Steve and you will surely experience a warm reception and feel most at home at the Confluence. If you "found" the RRF you must be an Ric enthusiast ---- so that's probably the only qualification needed.
Just make sure you are in good health and don't start getting heart palipatations from the excitement and joy of seeing/experiencing so many Rics (including rare and vintage ones) and meeting their owners.
Regards

SCARF AIRFARES
For longer-distance RRF-ers contemplating
to attend SCARF,
this was just announced today on MSN site about airline fares:
"Airline price wars are back, just when carriers can not afford them. The price of jet fuel is up. Passenger traffic is low. Southwest is offering fares as low as $30 each way on short flights and $90 on longer ones."
That's probably less than what some are paying for boutique brand flat-wound strings or other accessories
