Scored a 4003 MG!

Post by jhill0129 »

Well, after being ambivalent about and having some issues with a 4004, I decided to trade it away for a 2009 4003 MG. The pics aren't the greatest, but I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy this bass.

Do you have any suggestions? I tried with flash, without flash, soft flash, etc. and nothing seemed to work well.

I always see great pics on e-bay listings and such, but I've never been able to duplicate the quality.

There are lots of threads with info in the Rickenbacker Photography section. Here's one I started asking about lighting:

I haven't had time to do much yet. I'm sure what camera you use makes a difference too. I've never seen a good picture from a cell phone camera and I'll bet a lot of the cheapie point-n-shoot ones aren't much better...

Try shooting in late afternoon sunlight. Once the sun is low in the sky, the light will bring out richer colors in your subjects, especially skin tones. But work quickly. The best light is in the last hour or so before sunset.

Nice bass. The MG with the walnut wings are winners.

All good advice (above).

I shoot on the cloudy/low light day and use a fill-flash to brighten it up/eliminate excess shadows.

Use a bounce flash (not just the camera built-in unit) if indoors. I am trying to sell a Metz CL-1 flash & bracket with seperate battery pack and chargers. If you have a pentax i think i have the adapter too... PM me.

+1 Very good looking. A closeup of the body would be nice to see the maple!
