Re: Strings, Please advise
The 360/12 WB arrived today. As soon as the TI's come I'll replace the R with a lefty trapeze. Thanks for everyones input.

Nice guitar, and a lefty to boot. Definitely post some pics when you fit the new tailpiece.
I have to agree about plopping down the big bucks and resetting my 12 when what I use does exactly what I want it to. I would be interested in someone who has whatever strings on their 12 make a recording of it, then install the new Pyramids and record it exactly the same way, and include their opinion on difference in playability. I think only then can people really make up their own minds whether or not they are an improvement worth making. Untill then, it's just what the people selling them are saying to make you buy them.

Send me a set of Pyramids and a set of TI flats or RIC 12's and I'll be happy to do it for you.

I have that same guitar in reverse. In fact it's sitting right in front of me.epitreture wrote:The 360/12 WB arrived today.

Reverse? You must be one of those backward right handed people!

Re: Strings, Please advise
Having posted earlier in this thread in praise of the TI flatwounds, today, I finally got around to putting a set on my newly acquired 360/12 C63. Ah, instant "Jangle Heaven"! Boy, these strings really bring out the tone of the C63. When going through the JangleBox, the sound is right on. I found the Rickenbacker strings too harsh and with too many overtones when using the JBox. The flatwounds solved that problem with good definition of all 12 strings.
As an interesting aside, My 370/12 RM also has the TI flatwounds installed. The resulting sound is my favorite RIC 12 tone. In my opinion, no stand-alone compressor can duplicate "that sound" like the onboard compressor of the RM model, and believe me, I've tried many a compressor.

Ron, you like the Janglebox now?
I still think TI flatwounds are the best strings for a 12-string, ever. I'm still happy to this day that Jdog had a brand-new set on my V64 when he sent it.

Re: Strings, Please advise
Absolutly hands down go for the Thomastik Infield Flatwound 12's from PickOfTheRicks.com. Why? Because they are absolutly the best feeling and brighter sounding of the flatwounds. I know this because I have tried the Pyrimids. The tension was too tight, they sound way more muddy. I have tried Pyrmids on a 6 string Rick and my 360-12 and they suck. No offense to people that like high tension muddy sounding flats. It's really a preference and you should experiement.
The roundwound strings are going to be the best from Rickenbacker. They are by far the best sounding and feeling. Those strings are made for the 360-12. The 12 string set from Rickenbacker are compressed and they are the right guage for what you want the 360-12 to sound like. If you go to the Rickenbacker Forum on their site than you will read about the 12 string set from Ric. I like you thought I would replace the stock strings. I've tried them all on my quest and I can tell you..
My Opinion based on trying everything. $$

Sorry it's been so long, but I've been selling off equipment and trying to rent out my building. The TI's are just as good as everyone has said and I couldn't be happier. And the trapeze definitely looks better than the upside down R. Now all I need is a Vox AC30.
