Yeah, it's the kind of thing where you really have to want one for what they are, almost like apples and oranges. But if prices keep falling, who knows ...
All I wanna do is rock!

If you want to try the "poor man's" 320, it will cost you all of about $6.00.
Buy a set of .12 strings, install them on your 330 or 620, put a capo on the 3rd fret, and then tune it up to the standard EADGBE with the capo on.
You'll get a feel for the scale and something of the tone. Good for a few giggles, but amazingly close. Much less expensive than waiting for your 325 to arrive.

Collin, you struck me more as someone who would want a 1996...that's what I'd want if I had the chance to own a short scale again. Build me up a small RoMo reissue collection!collin wrote:I wouldn't mind a nice c58 though.... Just for the collection.
I totally agree with you about short scales, though, Collin. They are cool guitars, just something that didn't bond with me right away. You try to rip a riff on it, it was very easy to make a mistake.

I play lead on my 450-12 a lot.

There are those that say the same thing about full scale Rickenbackers. "Conventional Wisdom" dies hard. Like JimK says, it's just a guitar.
Oddly enough, I remember reading somewhere along time ago that F.C. Hall intended the 320/325 to be a lead instrument. The selling point was the shorter scale would enable you to play faster because of the easier reach from fret to fret.

According to Pete Best, that's exactly when Lennon bought his first.

Well, of course, there's also Susie Q where Mr. Fogerty once again ignored the conventional wisdom with the 325!
Just make the time to play guitar!
