This Gibson Video entitled "jangly chords" makes mention of the Ric 12 string that Roger Mcguinn or jim as he was once called plays on Mr Tamborine man as he demostrates on a les paul. Gibson had to have mentioned Ric in this vid or IMHO it wouldn't be credible. Ric invented the jangly chord sound.

Re: Gibson mentions Ric
They've done it several times lately. There was a feature about George Harrison's original 360/12 that was very cool. They were running it in a column called "Legendary Guitars" or something like that. They've also featured a Fender or two in the series.
Re: Gibson mentions Ric
I have never heard a Les Paul sound so jangly before. I tried these chords on my acoustic 12, now there was some jangle.

Holy Chimes of Freedom, Batman! Those are the chords I like to use whenever I play that song.

Gee, I've been using those chords for 30 years and I just thought it was because I'm lazy......

Yeah, weird hearing it out of a Gibson. It's like watching a huge fat guy tip-toe across the room. Just what I expect to see visually, and hear aren't in-sync.kiramdear wrote:Same here.teb wrote:Gee, I've been using those chords for 30 years and I just thought it was because I'm lazy......That was some nice tone from that Les Paul, too. Nice of Gibson to give credit where credit is due
That said, the modern king of jangle, Johnny Marr, frequently used to get biting, trebly jangle out of a Les Paul.........though everytime I plug mine in, I sound like Clapton or Freddie King.
