Rio De Janeiro Blue

Post by manta »

Rio De Janeiro Blue
Richard Torrance

This is a song I have been looking for for a long time:

The vinyl album came out in the '70s and it has a long-haired Richard with a topless babe resting on his topless torso on the front.

The song I want is:

Rio De Janeiro Blue
Richard Torrance

I know there was a CD made for a while too around 2000 to say 2004.

Does anyone have a copy or MP3 I can get ahold of?

Best,

His CD, "The Record Years", which has this cut on it, can be ordered here:

You're welcome.

Paul,

You are AWESOME!!

I Googled and Yahooed Richard Torrance for hours and couldn't come up with a CD contact. The vinyl albums are way too high (for me).

Yes, thank you!

He's from my neck of the woods as I think he's from South Dakota. He nailed the Bossa Nova sound and verve pretty well for a plains boy.

There are some nice renditions by Joe Sample & Randy Crawford and also a cool one by Bonnie Jenson. Also, an upbeat version by Brazilian Love Affair.

But Richard really nailed it when he first made the record. Its the best I've heard done.

Thanks again. Enjoy the tune if you haven't heard it.

Will sound nice with an acoustic 12.

Best,

Timbo

RRFers,

Just as a follow up, my Richard Torrance CD arrived yesterday with my favorite version of his "Rio de Janiero Blue" topping the playlist.

Richard also personally signed the CD cover and put in a nice note about how these were remastered from decades old studio reel-to-reel tapes to get this compilation.

He also mentioned how much he enjoyed the music world and its talented characters back in his heyday.

Thanks for finding this Paul. It's a treat to hear some of these tunes again.
