North of Malibu Lineup Changes

Post by kenposurf »

Rumors seem to be circulating so think it's time to post:
No news to anyone here that Paul W is a very busy guy! For the last couple of years, Paul has been taking 4+ hours out of his work day to make practice but things have got even busier for him so he has passed on the mantle of NoM guitarist. Paul is like a brother to me and is greatly missed. Joe our bass player is on hiatus in India, Joe is an original member of NoM and I'm very close to him but this is something he needs to do.
Harry Gale from Route 44 Studio has come on board and brought his guitar as well as our new bass player Danny Walters. We've had one gig with Harry and will have our first gig with the new lineup in Windsor, CA next Sunday...2,000-3,000 people are expected for this event so we're pretty excited about it. Things change..a door closes one opens....the family just gets bigger is all :D :D

I wish you guys a smooth transition with minimal growing pains. Yes, change is inevitable, and that's about the only thing thing about life that remains the same. And that's fine - it's only the memories of the good times and feelings we share that we're allowed to keep forever, anyway. I wish you guys big success with the new lineup! :)

George if there is one true constant in life it is this: Nothing ever remains the same. Good luck to both you and Paul in your future endeavors. I for one will miss seeing Paul in your videos and photos.

Paul adds his flair to be sure...had several folks from Hawaii who saw the Leningrad Hodad video and thought Paul was the the Drummer from Spirit... 8) 8)

Rumors?

The rumors of my hairpiece are exaggerated. Any others are under my radar!

Thanks everyone...much appreciated.....I miss my weekly dose of Paul's zany antics ..but good to have him almost as a neighbor. Joseph our original bass player is missed also..easy "go with the flow" kind a guy..the flow has taken him to live in India for awhile so yes, things change when they must.
The gig tomorrow is a big one...last I hear 2,000-3,000 expected...we will be doing an audio recording as well as filming the show.

Thanks Roy...it was a good time with a happy crowd.
The second gig with Harry on guitar and the first with new bass player Dann..Most all songs came off without a hitch...a couple had some mistakes made by one or another in the band but everyone caught them and filled in....we'll be back there next summer.

Another lineup change in the making. NoM drummer and good friend Rick Pate is now an alumni. He will continue with his other band Rag Tag that features his girlfriend at the helm.
Eddie is our new drummer and for those of you who listen to modern surf music, he plays much in the style of the legendary Dusty Watson. There are now enough ex members to form another surf band...maybe South of Malibu? More to come....soon
