I am wondering if any of you lads from the UK know of somewhere i can have my blackstar valued that would suit the interests of an Insurance company?
I require some form of valuation (not including the receipt for the purchase itself) to satisfy the insurance company records and unfortunately the only places local to me (Aberdeen, Scotland) are a bit on the **** side. I am willing to travel (within reason) to get a decent valuation done (ie. glasgow etc).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Paul,
I was hoping Pete Greenwood or someone will chime in here to help you. I also need to update my UK bass in insurance terms, and was going to look at options. There was an old thread here somewhere..
Anyone?

Hi Paul,Andy,
I insure my stuff through Hencilla Canworth who specialise in insuring musical instruments and are recommended by the Musicians Union.
http://www.hencilla.co.uk
Tel. 020-8686-5050
Its all insured separately from the house stuff and for on the road and left unattended in the car etc. (not that I would)
I have had no problems insuring for the ammount I expect to have to find to replace my 4001 basses which is more than I paid for them.
The amps and stuff are covered for the current retail price etc.
If you are covering stuff over certain ammounts for home use only on your contents policy the house insurance people always ask for a valuation.
For that you can use the current price lists that shops sell the stuff for if its new for old.
Musical instruments might be out of production or of special rarity value etc.
In that case I would always go for a specialist company even though it might cost more.
Try Hencilla to see what they quote.
If you are a Musicians Union member you get £2000 cover free from Hencilla with membership.
Best wishes,
Pete.

I had my '65 4001 valued by Vintage & Rare in Denmark Street.

Can I get a little OT here--does anyone in the States use Traveler's for their instruments? I'm thinking about it.

Cheers Pete,
I'll give them a look, and take it from there...
