I played JDog's 4002 yesterday, and the frets on that bass certainly appear smaller than those on this bass. Many older 4001 basses had the jumbo frets installed to improve neck mass and therefore less potential problems. Given the mods here, you could certainly see how a previous owner may have had this done...
