This is my 4003fl. Double Toaster, currently has brass Hipshot (normally sports Dane's mod) and Hipshot ultralight tuners for better sustain. It's my baby.

Here is my newly refinished "4001XS" with my weekend guest of honor showing her approval. I waited two years while my Luthier recovered from severe kidney stones, but it was worth the wait! This is a 1982 4001S.

John, are you referring to your 4003 'v63' ? Thats a real shame - I think yours is one of the best looking basses in the group.sloop_john_b wrote:Visually, no. Structurally, there's at least one with a bum neck...kiramdear wrote:Great thread! Not a clunker in the whole batch!![]()

My Ric ( 2001 4003) is the only bass that feels perfect to me. I have 2 other basses but nothing feels and plays like the Ric. I have often thought that I should have another.incubus2432 wrote:Painted fretboard and black hardware.....
That one just made me drool.............
I wish I could find a place that has one to try.
Re: show your custom bass!!!
Jim, you finally got the bass back. Looks really good! Even your little Godchild recognizes it.just_bassics wrote:Here is my newly refinished "4001XS" with my weekend guest of honor showing her approval. Zdenek, that is cool! How did you add the CS frets? All new fretboard?
