I`m having some difficulty in tracking down a truss rod adjuster key for my `88 4003S. Is there anyplace someone can recommend who can supply these? I am assuming that the key is pretty much standard fare on older rickys and the newer ones? Being reluctant to do any of the works myself to my basses i dont actually have a key for this......
My truss rods seem to be slightly slack. A friend (guitar tech) has looked at it but is reluctant to adjust them without the proper tool. The truss rods seem to be quite tight as it is (he says) but thinks a minor adjustment on the rods may be just enough to prevent this from happening.
Cheers.

You need a thin-walled 1/4" hex wrench.
This (no affil.) looks okay and is only $9.
Or you can buy the RIC wrench at the Boutique.

If you can't find one cheaper anywhere else then try this: http://www.rickysounds.co.uk/Accessories.html . I got mine from here a couple of years ago and it is the same Xcelite tool that I think Rickenbacker sell in their boutique. It is quite long and therefore easy to control how much force you are applying (very little!) and the head is nice and slim so it is easy enough to get on the nut without hitting the other nut and the bottom of the head cavity. You are definitely right to wait until you've got the correct tool before attempting to make any adjustments.

Check online tool sellers. You want an Xcelite L8 1/4" long shaft nutdriver.
Ka is a wheel.

Paul,
If you're still looking then drop me a PM. I have one and could let you have a loan of it for a while, (and I'm just to the North of Aberdeen).
