Bassic Colors No. 1 – I want my Maple(glo)!

Post by bassduke49 »

A few years ago, I started a "Color of the week" series in the General Forum, and it proved very popular. I thought I'd do it again, but just with the basses this time. So, every week (around Wednesday or so), we'll invite readers to submit photos of their Rick basses in the color of the week. If you get behind, you can always add to past weeks' installations.

We'll start with good ol' Mapleglo, and include what I call "Maplematt," the semigloss finish applied to the 4001C64S, and a few basses that were classified "Natural." Mapleglo isn't really a "color" as such in that it is not a pigment, but it is a finish. So let's tap into that sweet mapley goodness from your collections! Here are a couple from my current stable, an '07 4003 (with Pickguardian bridge-pickup surround), and an '03 4001C64S.

Just your run-of-the-mill '77 4001MG, but I really dig this one:

My DA23 look alike:

And my humble but lovable Aug '87 4003SMG which ties with my July '87 4003SRuby for best tone, most comfortable, and best playability out of my whole stable:
