Post by edcal »

What happened to the talk awhile back about the Searchers recording some new songs with Tom Petty?

It all stems back, I believe, to an interview Frank gave where he stated that the only way he could see The Searchers getting a new recording contract would be if they were to record with someone like Tom Petty.

It would be high time to pull the Tom Petty strings then. This would be a great combination, Tom Petty and The Searchers, although the "Petty Searchers" would be a less than glamorous name for the group.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

After all, Tom Petty did do a version of "Needles And Pins" on the "Pack Up The Plantation - Live" album.

Petty did a studio version of "Needles and Pins" with Stevie Nicks that was, to put it charitably, underwhelming (although a young secretary at the office thought I'd like "this new song").
