I'm sorry to hear that. The night before last someone got into my car and my brother's car here in my driveway at home. There was nothing of value in my car. Papers were rifled through, but nothing but a pair of sunglasses were stolen. My brother, on the other hand, had a $1500 Fender Strat stolen. Cruise the local pawshops frequently. If you're lucky, the idiot that broke into your car will pawn it in the area. Since you have the SN and have reported it stolen, if you find it in a shop, you can call the police and have THEM recover it from the pawn shop. The shop HAS to turn it over IF you have reported it stolen and have the SN documented. They are the ones who end up losing in that situation. Good luck recovering it.

Maybe this is a stupid question but, have you spoken with the police? Sounds like a few people know who the guys were. There's more than just theft going on here because of the vandalism.

I have contacted the police and I have a paper where I am listing the bass and the serial number and turning it in tomorrow. This happened in Lake Tapps in Washington. They probably live in Auburn (10 min away) or around Mukleshoot Hill. 3 guys around ages 20-26 and two girls that looked young like 16-18. I kick myself in the rear because I know I shouldnt of left it in my car for a second but I guess gotta learn the hard way. Hopefully I recover it.

There's just something so wrong about stealing someone's instrument. Bad karma for sure...

Here's wishing for a speedy return Jake.

Guys in their 20's with teenage girls. Sounds like a whole mess of problems. I truly hope you get the bass back, but the fact they vandalized the amp instead of stealing it makes me think they might have tossed the bass too.

I'm thinkin that too, it was like 3-4am when it happened and was pitch black. I'm going back there after work to check it out and see maybe they through it in a bush or something.

I am super paranoid about instrument theft, especially with my 4003FL, for this very reason. The bond of a player and a favorite instrument is about as strong as the bond with a family member... at least for me. Then again I'm an f-ed up only child.

May it return to you swiftly and stronger than it left you!

Reading your story made me go get my basses out of my locked car in my locked garage after a gig where I was dead tired and left them in there for tomorrow's action. Realized I was getting a little lazy.

Hope your story has a happy ending. My guitar player in my last band had his 2 guitars (and his entire car full of gear) ripped out of his driveway, and they showed up on Ebay a month later from a pawn shop down in the hood. The thieves turned them in to the pawn shop for $50 apiece. Bits and pieces of the gear showed up over the course of a year on Ebay and Craigslist.

Once the pawn shop knew these were stolen, we went down there and got them back for the $50 apiece the guy paid for them.

Very sorry to hear about the theft of your bass, Jake. Seems like you're covering every avenue in order to get it back so you've done very well there.

Best of luck...... here's hoping. :)
