Does anyone have soundclips of higain neck versus toaster?

I went with a toaster in the neck of my 2004 4003 because the higain was indistinct on the E string from G# on down (RIC factory strings). It was an 11.6k higain. The 7.4k toaster added articulation and clarity in that range - I could then discern the different note tones. Tone was very similiar with a tad less growl from the toaster over the higain.

i finally got a toaster in the neck of my new 4003. it's a 7.4k toaster and i do notice the difference in output (between the toaster and the higain). just curious...do you turn the bass volume all the way up and the treble maybe only halfway to compensate?

Actually you could just use the capacitor option on the treble pickup and get a really nice vintage sound.

They are out there... use the search function. There's at least one that I listened to on this forum a few months ago via an "electronica" style song for comparison.

Both pickups have their virtues.

I wouldn't have asked if I was able to find it- I searched for toaster globally and couldn't find any such thread, perhaps there is some other phrase or keyword that is present in that post? Can you recall more about it? Thank you.

I raise the toaster up all the way (no rubber grommet - be careful not to overtighten the height screw or the plastic guard cracks) and just play with the blend - usually knocking 10% off the bridge works fine and that is the growl spot anyway.
