World will warm faster than predicted in next five years
Re: World will warm faster than predicted in next five years
I reckon that if you balance the alarmists against the cynics it will be even so therefore there will be no change.
Nice opportunity for our governments here in Australia to introduce a 'heat tax'!!

I can't wait for this so called 'global warming' to hit North Yorkshire, summers here were so much hotter in the '60's and 70's than they have been for the last 20 years or so. Infact it's bloody freezing here today!

Follow the icebergs...
It could be worse...you could own a house in Venice...
Peter, perhaps we've been through this before in an earlier thread, but all of the computer modelling and predictions indicate that as the Arctic ice breaks up and floats southward, it will push the Gulf Stream further south into the mid Atlantic, and Northern Europe and the British Isles will be deprived of its historical warming effects. It doesn't seem fair, I know, but global warming equals Yorkshire cooling...leftyguitars wrote:I can't wait for this so called 'global warming' to hit North Yorkshire, summers here were so much hotter in the '60's and 70's than they have been for the last 20 years or so. Re: World will warm faster than predicted in next five years
Since, based on the geological record, the world's been had even warmer temperatures over the past 500 years than what's predicted, I think we'll survive if it happens. Supposedly cold temperatures kill more people than heat does, unless your among the neglected elderly infirmed in a French metropolis during a heat wave-"the hell with _________, let's hit the beach", so I suppose that while it's going to be mighty uncomfortble in Oz, you might actually freeze to death in Yorkshire.
I'd worry more about killer asteroids, but then I suppose that's a whole other thread.

Naa, we'll all be dead with swine flu soon according to our government (but then we were all going to die of bird flu two years ago and that didn't happen eitherpaologregorio wrote: so I suppose that while it's going to be mighty uncomfortble in Oz, you might actually freeze to death in Yorkshire.

Hey wait a minute! You mean we didn't all die? I thought sure we did! Huh, I guess that's why this doesn't exactly seem much different. Oh well, on to the next disaster that'll end life as we know it...leftyguitars wrote:Naa, we'll all be dead with swine flu soon according to our government (but then we were all going to die of bird flu two years ago and that didn't happen eitherpaologregorio wrote: so I suppose that while it's going to be mighty uncomfortble in Oz, you might actually freeze to death in Yorkshire.

Re: World will warm faster than predicted in next five years
but all of the computer modelling and predictions indicate
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA..... horsehockey.
if "all of the computer modelling and predictions" we've seen in the last 20-25 year were AT ALL accurate
we'd all now be be broiling and underwater.
Instead, the average temp on earth has been in a cooling trend for the last 11 years.
