The way I figure it, regardless of man's influence (I think we tend to over aggrandize everything we do) the world has been getting warmer since the last Ice Age. It IS a good idea to clean up our act, but climate change happens. This is a very mutable world we live on and it changes with or without us. If we don't learn to adapt we WILL go the way of the dinosaur.

Hey, at least we don't seem to be as close to instigating a "Nuclear Winter" as we were several decades ago...

Of course, that would be one solution to global warming...

Not a solution I'd advocate, of course...

But if the nuclear winter was equal and opposite to global warming everything would remain status quo and we would all live happily ever after :D .

Uh, oh, I seem to recall another recent thread about angry hamsters. Now they're moving on to biological warfare...

20,000 musk oxen died of starvation on Banks Island, Canada, in the spring of 2004 following a 'rain-on-snow' event:

Eight ice shelves on the Antarctic Peninsula have recently collapsed and disappeared completely, and the ninth, the Wilkins, is in the process of doing the same:

NASA satellite imagery now confirms decreasing ice and rising sea levels in the Arctic:

There's a whole series of these 'Crock Of The Week' videos addressing Global Warming 'Deniers':

Maybe Antarctica is lying about being a frozen continent in the planet's southernmost region, and was actually born in Kenya...who knows...but for those who prefer political 'commentary' to science, I have a couple of big Samoan friends who would be willing to come to your house, escort you to your bathtub, and show you what it feels like to be underwater.

I don't totally buy into global warming as being caused by man entirely. .

yes, the world temperature is increasing......but the earth has cooled down and heated up many many times over in the past. What's to say this time is any different (other than the fact that we're witnessing it, and believe it to be faster than in the past) ?

That doesn't necessarily mean we created the problem.

....More sensationalist news to scare people into buying different products, methinks.

Why, yes Kira...I think it could...the last time for me, anyway, 'cause I sure can't take this anymore...this kind of thing is harder on me than seeing pictures of someone's four dozen guitars.

I need something to divert my poor, tiny mind from all of this...something that will make me feel all secure about the future and warm and fuzzy inside...wonder if there's some NASCAR on the teevee?

Over...and more importantly...out.

OK I think this topic has run its course.

If it raises it's head again in another form one of us will just simply delete it. It's a topic that causes far too much division and polarisation on this board. There are other forums that are far more suitable for this kind of topic.

Btw for the benefit of our members new and old the Others section is not meant to be a safe harbour for topics or comments that are off limits on the rest of the forum. The rules still apply and even though there is not an assigned moderator, this section is always under close scrutiny.
