Re: The long wait is over!
Thanks Jim for posting this. I just bought a 1999 4001V63 in MapleGlo that I'm having refinished in BananaGlo. How did you have the walnut wings done? My guess is that CS left his in the original FlreGlo. Anybody?

Re: The long wait is over!
Hi Ron,
My Luthier was specific when he told me that the wings would be dyed walnut, not stained. I forget the reason he did it that way, since the discussion was two years ago, but I'll be talking to him soon, so I'll get some clarification.
This bass, of course, did not have the walnut wings like the original 60's basses and the V63 and current 4003's, so perhaps it was done this way to cover the wood underneath properly. You can see the wood grain under close examination, so it's not like they were painted on, but it is a very dark masking effect. It truly gives this headstock an elegant look, sleeker, better lines. Now all three of my Ric basses have the wings.

Very nice bass! 1982 "S" Ric's rule baby! I have two of them.

Jim that is a great photo all around! The bass looks great and the baby is hanging on to it like a natural... are you gonna give her lessons? Both are beauties. You look both proud and happy. Hope to get to see you again soon.

I agree .... quite a transformation from the yellowed, worn, Azure finish ! Really nice looking Squiresque model.

Re: The long wait is over!
Thanks, Rich I'm quite happy with it!
Tammy, sorry, but I'm not qualified to give that little girl lessons!
She sure is a little cutie, though, isn't she?

Very nice Jim! I'm looking hard at the bass, but your furry pal is looking equally as hard at those strawberries!
Enjoy this special time with your guests and Goddaughter.

She is an amazing and very special little girl in so many ways. I have a new saying based on her story and that is "Don't believe in miracles? Start believing!"

That's Elmo, my cocker spaniel, who also answers to "Bonehead" and he'll eat anything as long as it's on my dinner plate. Don't turn your back for a second! Once he ate all of the chicken out of my wife's chicken salad in the time it took her to go get salad dressing. That was almost his last day!johnallg wrote:Very nice Jim! To quote one of Chris’s songs ‘don’t believe in miracles, but I do believe in love’. I see it as nothing is impossible, or a miracle to a supreme being…. Love is our petition for such. But whatever the mechanism I’m sure glad it worked out well. She is a cutie! Mom and Dad must be so proud!!
Elmo sounds like my pug – eats to live and lives to eat!!! Her escapades includes – gallon bag of chocolate chip cookies, ½ bag of dried lentils???, 3 choc Easter bunnies and a sundry of plate portions left sitting 'for just a moment'.
