Intonation of my E String- not long enough?!?!?

So Robert, how'd you end up with the intonation on this?

Thanks for asking John. Well, the E string is still not intoned (intonated?) properly. I'm adjust the neck a bit more each night based on the recommendation that the neck must be absolutely flat to get the intonation right. I find that if I allow my bass to rest for a day or so I can again turn the truss rod nuts a bit more...not much, like 1/10th of a turn, but I'm hoping one of these nights the neck will become absolutely flat. Once it does that, I'll revisit the intonation adjustment. (I am a bit concerned that it just may never get to flat.)

The thing I HATE about doing this though, is that it makes sense to just leave my TRC off...and my bass looks odd without the Rickenbacker logo on the headstock.

If the nuts turn hard, you can "help" the neck in the direction you want it to go to relieve pressure while you adjust. Make sure the neck moves and stays, and that the nuts at the body end are not "eating" into the maple - moving into any soft maple and allowing the neck to bow again. You should be making real progress in straightening, and not backsliding to the previous bow.
