I don't mind it at all, Brian..... it's grown on me over the 5 minutes I've looked at it. Are you tempted to get stuck into the binding with a Sharpie??

No.... don't......... DON'T!! :? :?

In my very humble opinion, it looks great, it could be nice if you changed the miniswitch and tuner's rings to black too, and maybe, just maybe, a black TRC, probably the white lettering on the TRC would make the white binding look more integrated, but even like it is now I don't think it looks bad, ofcourse black would be nicer, but white is cool too.

I gotta say I don't like gold hardware much (not to say at all) and if I ever EVER have an LK, I would probably do something along those lines too...

It looks very nice to me

Cheers!

Just wait till you see Brian's LK after he blackens the walnut!

Think about it, Stealth Carving!!! 8)

Brian, it looks great but would replace the TRC with a black one.

I always liked the fact that Brian made the LK his player, rather than a closet queen.

The black hardware looks great, and sets it apart from the other LK's.

I am hardly a collector of anything. I just think gold looks way better in this case. Brian asked for opinions... There's mine.

The black looks cheesy and out of place here IMO. That said some may think two toasters in both my basses is equally wrong or worse.

I agree completely. Lemmy does what ever he wants to his Rics. To me a modded LK is more of a tribute than a stock one.

I always thought the gold on the LK was odd. It is the Lemmy signature model not the Liberace signature model after all. :P

All opinions are fine.....I have a hefty flame suit.

Lemmy's LK is modded BUT I'm no Lemmy so I can't use that excuse. As far as if it should be modded at all.....I've already crossed that bridge with the VVVT electronics, Hipshot bridge and rear routing (still covered by factory plate). Anyone who doesn't like it can keep their LK factory original (oh, that's right....:P ).

Oddly enough I find the black hardware not growing on me. I've wanted this swap for some time and now that I've done it it just doesn't seem to work. The binding, for me, throws it off. The black TRC might help but I like the gold plexi......the only spare I have is another gold plexi and I don't want to swap it for a black. So when I get the time over the next few days I believe the trashed gold hardware will be back in place. With the black hardware the LK looked new again and with the gold it looks battle scarred which, I suppose, isn't such a bad thing.

Now I'll need something to put the black hardware on........

BTW.....wouldn't the Liberace model have sequins, fur and diamonds.

Brian, I like the other mods a lot. Just not this latest one. Sweet bass all in all... Enjoy it. :)

If this decision is causing too much disruption in your life, Brian, you can always send it north and I'll make sure you forget about the situation for some time.

Of course, you can always have it sent back down when you're ready to deal with it again.

I'm just applying for the Rickenbacker Bass Watch position. I understand it doesn't pay well but I'm willing to sacrifice some payment for this position.

As far as my preference, I have never been a fan of gold hardware on anything, let alone an LK. However, I've come to accept that the LK has gold hardware. With that said, I prefer the black over the gold but I'm guessing you could have figured what I'd have liked with my first sentence in this paragraph. ;)

I have thought about having the parts replated but, in my experience, gold never holds up so it would be a waste of money.

It's all back to gold now anyway and I don't feel like taking it apart again anyway.
