--I found the Hipshot in aluminum had moderate to significant more sustain than the stock bridge--In adjustability, well there was no comparison in that catagory the stock gets blown out of the water. But on the Hipshot I had anyway, my strings would wobble in the saddles. The ric bridge still wins out in my book, since it has no wobble, but I like to use light strings and cannot intonate my bass perfectly due to no more room on the ric bridge-Ive turn to the right all I can and the spring is smushed-oh well :( . Its not perfect and that bothers me.

If there is one thing I do not like about the 4003-it is the bridge-I love the way the bridge looks, its so dam sexy, but the thing was designed before the USA landed men on moon or desegregated the South for christsake! The 4003 would be almost perfect in my eyes if it had a retro looking bridge but with modern and easy adjustability.....

The ABM bridges that were used on 4004 and 650 models, until recently discontinued, were made of brass. JH comments on this near the end of this thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=383645&start=30&st=0&sk=t&sd=a
