Spinal Tap - an error with their 4001

Post by gibsonlp »

Hi guys,
I finally got to see Spinal Tap, yes I know... took me a while.
While I must admit that most of the movie wasn't that funny imho - a few parts (like the stonhenge part...) really cracked me up...
I did notice a timing error.
In the movie there is a part where they show themselves in 1967 playing a song, the bassist used a 4001.
I noticed it had a skunk stripe and I am almost sure it didn't have the pickup cover (which means it was probably not a horseshoe).
The neck pickup looked like it was 1/2 inch away and the inlays seemed to be full width.
So basically, they used an early 70's 4001 in their "67" film... :)

I know... sweating the details, but I couldn't resist.
So long and thanks for all the fish!

Good eye, Gil. That always bugs me too, when I see mistakes in movies like that. Like when I went to see Dr. Doolittle (the original), and spotted a helicopter flying through one outdoor scene. I'm glad I'm not the only one.
