I haven't read the write-ups on these, but the tuners on the 6-ers look like they have those "diamond" shaped buttons that you find on (I think) Grover open-backed tuners . . . am I right?

That's a niche market price. They are nice instruments though. But why are there R tailpieces on the guitars for starters? I would love one of those basses...............just thinking out loud. :D

I would sell my 4001V63 and my 4001CS for one of those 1999's. Love. It.

Aside from the finish color and the squiggly signature on the CS model, what's the big difference between the three models? Neck profile? Headstock shape nuances?

Paul, my 4001CS was built 1992 early in the run (#430); longer headstock, and a nice thin neck. My V63 is from 1999, shorter headstock, slightly beefier neck. I don't know about these 1999 reissues, but if they're anything at all like the C-Series basses, they will be fantastic players. I played a 4001C64 a few years ago at Fullers in Houston and it had the thinnest neck I ever played on a Rickenbacker bass and soloing on the toaster pickup was punchy and well-defined. :D

Based on that cryptic comment, I think I foresee a RIC outlet 360 C63 one off in the Eric B FG coming soon!

Can you imagine what it would be like if Rickenbacker did something similar for the UK market?
The market here is now very different to when the Rose Morris models were available.
It would be the usual 3 or 4 dealers (no names mentioned, but we all know who) that would buy up most of the stock and then whack them straight onto Ebay at 2, 3 or 4 times the cost price.
I'd keep 'em in Asia/Mars/Uranus if you ask me.

Nice job, Ric...hope we get some of these beauties stateside. But what's the difference between a 1999 and a 4001c64? Headstock and tugbar? :?

If the fifth model's a 360/12c65 I'm selling a kidney.
