Selling Rickenbackers in Japan

Post by sashua »

I am curious. If I have a few big ticket, investment grade guitars and I want to find a Japanese buyer - what would be the best way to get started?

Is there something similar to E-Bay or Craigslist in Japan or is there a network or association that might be of assistance within the land of the rising sun?

Yes, I know E-Bay is also in Japan but it seems to be devoid of guitars. No - I do not speak or read Japanese.

Any advice?

From what I understand---the Japanese are quite loyal towards the bigger dealers.

You might have a better experience dealing to the dealers (who, in Japan, will likely pay way more than a U.S. dealer). Ishibashi etc...

I have sold a number of items to Japan through standard Ebay, but they often like to use 3rd party services that translate the whole deal for them, and act as a middleman between payment and shipping. Strange, but quite efficient (both Japanese characteristics anyways!).

Take a booth at the Arlington show. All the big Japanese dealers are there.

I hate to argue Mike, but you are most certainly Japanese.
Please don't argue with me as I am never wrong and it will just be embarassing for you
