Pick up selector popup syndrome

Post by marc61 »

On my son's Fender Cyclone, when he puts the selector into the lead position, it keeps popping back to the center.

Causes?
Cures?
Thanks!

If it is a blade type like those on Ricks all you need to do is take some needlenose pliers and bend the tabs till everything works okay again. Easy to do.

I had exactly the same problem on my Telecaster DeLuxe, and it took longer to r&r the pickguard, than it took to tweak the switch. An easy fix.

Cool Cyclone! One of my bandmates uses one - we found it in the storage closet in a dingy basement bar we used to play at. What kind of pickup is in it?

John, have to plead ignorance. I let the luthier put in the hottest pickup he could find. We call the guitar "Yellow Screaming Monster". This guitar was also rewired vt/vt. My son jokes that if he became well known enough for a signature model, he want this to be resurrected.
