Ric Round Ground Strings

I see these listed on Rics website. Has anyone tried them? Any opinions?

Round Grounds? Are these like the D'Addario Half Rounds? I'd never heard of round grounds...I have a set of Half Rounds on one of my non-Ric basses. I like them. They aren't as mellow as flats and have the sustain of rounds.

interesting (but weird),the set gauge is 49-66-72-98.....i have used de'addario grw strings on other basses to good effect...with a more conventional 45-105 gauge....

GHS makes a ground round string called Bass Brite Flats along with compressed wounds called Pressure Wound. They spec their strings from the brightest down as round wound, ground wound, compressed wound, and then flat wound. Here is a description of GHS Bass Brite Flats:
Ground Roundwound Alloy 52 is very kind to your frets and easy on the fingers. The wrap wire is built up with multiple layers and then micro-ground to exact gauge and smoothness...

Don't let the odd string gauge influence you. I thought the same of TI strings until I tried them. :D

holy thread resurrection batman
I just found this topic and thank heavens I did. I got a set of Rickenbacker Round Ground for Fathers day, finally got my 4003 strung and tuned tonight. HOLY COW!!!!! why oh why did I wait sooo long to try these out?!?!?!?
I'm sorry Rotosound Swingbass 66 ..but I'm afraid I have to bid you a deep and sincere farewell. After nearly 20 years together, I've just found someone that knows my needs and understands my desires better. Hang in there Roto's, you are beautiful for who you are, but it's as if the Round Grounds and I were made for each other.. I hope you can understand and not hate me for just wanting to be happy
♪♫♪♫I need new strings, these ones have a bunch of dang wrong notes on 'em ♫♪♫♪
