Just saw this - what a shame. I was fortunate enough to have seen him live less than a year ago. His playing was a bit less fluid than in past years but his wit was still razor sharp. A huge loss.

Wow. Sad news.

We should all have the long and amazing productive career as Les. He lived for music and innovation in every sense.

Rest in peace, Les. You've gotten about as close to immortality as is possible for a mere human to achieve!

Sad news indeed. I always told myself that one day I'd go down to NYC and see him play. Never did. One of the pioneers. RIP. You won't be forgotten!

This is such a sad day for those of us who play guitar. He was truly a pioneer and one of the all time greats. Guitars bearing his name have been played the whole world over. I am in shock, but I will also celebrate his life by playing my Les Paul today. R.I.P. Les.

Last Monday , my son was begging me to take him to see Les perform. Not sure, but that was probably his last performance. Either way, the inventor of sound on sound recording, and a pioneer in the use, and creation of the solid body electric guitar is no longer with us.

My son was quick to point out that when Michael Jackson died, stations were quick to flood us with Michael's music. Not much on Les yet, but his contributions were equal, and possibly more important.

Saw him live twice and really enjoyed his sense of humor. Surrounded himself with fresh young talent that will be stars of tomorrow. What a legacy!

It may be strange to be surprised by the death of someone 94 years old, but I really thought Les Paul would live forever. In many ways, I think he will.

It's kind of like in the automobile world when Henry Ford died in 1948......Les was a mover and shaker for sure.

You got that right! He'll never be forgotten in my household. I've got a few of his signatures around here somewhere (all on headstocks!). A 1971 Les Paul Standard was my first real guitar and he was a huge influence. His mark on the music and recording world is permanent

RIP, Lester William Polsfuss :(
