Women needed for Beatles tribute band in SF Bay area

Post by kiramdear »

Hey all,

I'm now seeking musically talented ladies to fill three or four spots in an all-female Beatles tribute band. Applicants must play and sing, as I don't want to have a lead singer, and be local to San Francisco. I have one inquiry about the other guitar spot already, but don't let that stop anyone from asking about guitar at this point. I don't have any applicants yet for bass, drums, and keyboard. Everything is still at square one.

Gentlemen, please pass on the word to any female musicians you know who might be interested. I can be reached here by private message for e-mail and phone particulars, and samples of my work can be found on my website. I'm ready to start rehearsing right away. Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or information.

Thanks for you attention. :)

Best of luck, Kira. I'm looking forward to hearing more about this, and from your group.

You should do a cover of "Ringo,I Love You!"

Thanks for the support, guys. I think we'll stick to the Beatles' own repertoire because. well, just because.

I got one possible candidate through craigslist but no appointments yet. All positions except mine are still open. Whether I'm George or John depends if the other guitarist-singer can handle the lead parts or just plays rhythm.

This is a very interesting project here, Kira. Best of luck.

You could do a good job as John. You love short scales, and the guitars you have (325V59, 320, Gibson ES-335) are closest to his more than George's (unless you have a '60s reissue Tenny and or Country Gent, double bound 360/12, 60's Strat, Gibson SG and 60's Tele and just aren't telling us).

Thanks, Jake,

I cancelled the deal on the ES335 because it needed too much work to make it worthwhile. It was a sweetie, though, and I miss it. I'm really hoping the guitarist I find can handle the lead parts because I'm looking forward to showing off my short-scale Ricks, but female lead players are much scarcer than rhythmers, so I may have to get a Gretsch and some Fenders and fill that role myself. I'm not too fussy about which part I take. We'll just have to see what happens with whoever comes along - one important thing is that we don't wait forever to get rolling.

That's really cool Kira- I wish you and your future bandmates much success and a whole lot of fun too.

Have you given any thought to a band name yet???
Because I told you before- oh, you can't do that.

For Gretsch, I suggest you look at the fine Harrison model Gretsches that North Coast Music has to offer. :)

Fenders, the Classic Player's 60's Strat comes in Sonic Blue, which is the color Rocky was before "Pepper".

Would using a name like "The Beatlettes" be any type of copyright infringement?
Because I told you before- oh, you can't do that.

It is a groovy idea, Kira...but I hope you're not holding your breath in anticipation of throngs of adolescent males screaming their heads off and fainting. My gender at that age, if I might be permitted a moment of thoughtul recollection, is primarily into standing around with their hands in their pockets, trying to look cool....

Not sure what that's all about, but it's definitely the case. If you can accept that as adulation, you'll be as gratified by the response to your efforts as Ringo was...

(Now, you might end up with rooms full of screaming young girls, and that's...okay.)
I didn't get where I am today by being on time...
