Thanks, everybody, for the well wishes and name suggestions. If you all were girls we could put this together in no time; as it is I've gotten a lot of responses but exactly one of them has been from a woman, and she's in Australia . :x  It does prove to me one thing, however, that there is an audience for this kind of band. Well, I'll just have to be patient, or persistent, until the members are assembled. We'll see what happens in the coming days. But don't hold your breath waiting. :(

If I dress in drag, can I play drums?

...or bass, I'm not particular...

...ah, with my mug it'd better be drums...

I think we'll send Dane over to see John Ashfield about playing with the She-Gees (they're a bunch of guys in drag). I prefer my girls not needing a shave if that's not asking too much

That's the SAME line that got me disinherited when I was 16 Kira....TRUE STORY....I took Janey to meet my relatives in Brooklyn one Sunday.....BAD MOVE...all the old Italian women circled around me and were yelling at me in Italian "Why THIS girl, why not an Italian girl".....(Janey being of Irish & German decent)...and my reply was "I don't want my wife to have a beard and mustashe like YOU do".

Damn, THAT little line cost me over $500K!

I got $3.00, the animal shelter got the 500k! :(

Kira:

Just a thought...maybe you'd do better with this ad in the Bay area if the heading read, "Womyn wanted..."

I think the idea is phenomenal :) I'd probably call it the Beatchicks but any name will do. Can't wait to see the results.

Beat Chicks?

Well, there was an all-girl band in San Diego in '64-'65 that opened twice for the Beatles, according to this article:

The Shee-Gees??? That's just downright mean, Kira...when have I ever insulted you that way? If I ever did go to the trouble to dress in drag to be in a band, it wouldn't be to sit there like an idiot coppin' that stupid hi-hat part in Stayin' Alive...

That's it...I'm flouncing outta here...

Interesting on a few levels as I never thought of opening acts for the Beatles.

Nice idea. But you really want to watch out for unintended meanings. My first reaction was "What's this, an invitation to domestic violence?"

Mason Proffitt was not a very well known SoCal band back in the '70s, but I always liked the name. It has a nice ring to it. It certainly wouldn't fit an all female band. But the idea of inventing a four syllable proper name for a band name appeals to me.

Mason Proffitt was known enough for me to remember from Chicago back then. I think they played the Windy City fairly frequently in mid-late '70s.

What this has to do with naming a Beatles womyn's band I'm a bit fuzzy on...

I'm a bit 'fuzzy', too...evidently, that's why I can't be in Kira's band...

How about Kira's Moonies? :)

Whoops another name that could conjure up wrong meanings
