Hi Gain/Toaster Mod Issues
Hello all,
Recently I purchased a toaster neck pickup for my 06 4003. After removing the original hi-gain and installing the toaster, I tested it by tapping on the toaster and it was producing noise. I put the pick guard back on, installed new strings, and plugged her in. No sound from the new toaster! Even with the toggle in mid position (both pickups), there is no sound. Only the bridge pickup. Any suggestions? I basically matched where the hi-gain wires were mounted (black wire to the toggle and bare wire to the bass tone).
I do have a couple of low res pictures, but I'm not sure how to post them.
Thanks,
Todd

You may have pinched the wires putting it back together, or somehow shorted the hot wire(the one that goes to the switch). You may have also boken the solder joint of either wire when putting it back together. If itr worked when you had it apart, there really is very little you can do to kill the pickup, short of pulling the wires out of the pickup itself. Good luck.

Oh, and welcome to the forum
Re: Hi Gain/Toaster Mod Issues
check you switch as well... I remember something like this happening to me eons ago. It turned out to be some of the harnes wires either pushing the switch contacts together or apart - I can't recall. Also did you mess with the jacks or were they left attached during your upgrade?
And welcome to the forum.

Todd PM sent. I can help you with this (since you only live a couple of miles from me) if you can't find the problem.

Thanks to all. I visited Ken Joseph and he discovered a bad solder joint on the toaster itself. I hadn't even considered looking at the pickup. I'm up and playing. Thanks Ken!

Welcome to the forum, Todd. Well done, Ken!
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!

It was odd because it didn't look bad.

Ya gotta love cold solder joints. Also where the rosin surrounds the wire and doesn't allow the solder flow to the wire and make a good electrical connection. Kudos Ken, and welcome aboard Todd.
