I was personally never a huge Fireglo fan, though I always loved the picture of Glenn Hughes playing one on the back of Deep Purple's Made In Europe album. But then I got my '82 4008 (I also have difficulties photographing it - so much depends on the lighting):
You can just barely see that the finish on the body is checked pretty extensively.
It's too bright in this photo, but you can see more of the orange in the middle:
The neck pieces have a nice flame to them:

Chris, that '74 is one very beautiful FG burst pattern.
Kev, I'd more likely FG the 4003S that the V. Remember, you get first dibs if I ever get dumb enough to move it.

Ok, now you all made me feel sad about my FG... more like a CG as I've heard somewhere!
But nevermind... I'll get one of those 70's incredible finishes one day! or a late one, 2008/9's are looking very stunning also... I've heard.
Cheers!

I would certainly jump at that opportunity! That is one I regret selling. (kicking self now!)johnallg wrote:Chris, that '74 is one very beautiful FG burst pattern.

We've all seen this one before, but I still think it's a great representation of the early years.
John, that 69 looks very impressive!
