Welcome, Frank!
Here's some new pix of my '92 V.

It's got a bunch of tiny birdeye that look like strawberry seeds!

Hello everybody, this is my first visit and post. I have a 1999 4001v63FG. It has the chunky neck as well. It is currently in the shop, but I promise to post a pic when I get it back. I think the v63 is just the perfect bass. There is nothing about this style of bass that I don't like. Mark

Welcome to the forum, Mark. It was a pleasure to meet you, your wife and neighbor at SCARF.
The JETGLO finish name should be officially changed to JETGLO ROCKS!

Thanks, Wes! It's a keeper! One of these days I want to get a guard of the proper shape and add a tug bar.
Welcome, Mark!

Beautiful pics, Kevin. Your front pics look a little bit yellowed. Has the finish yellowed or is it just the photo? My '92 V63 has not yellowed.
Great basses, though.
I took my pick guard off a few days ago to find 500K ohm tone pots. My '98 V63 sounded a whole lot less bright, so I'm guessing it had the 250K ohm tone pots.
+1 on the tug-bar and less-bloated pick guard.

Here's the twin to Kevin's V63, born in October of 1992:

Thanks, Jeff. It isn't as yellow as it appears in the pix. It's just too hard for my cheapo digital to capture the true shading. In person, and IMO, it has the perfect red shading.
It's interesting to me to see the difference of the radii on the pu surrounds between our two '92's. The front radii on yours are larger than on mine. I know the MG '93 that John has is large also.
Along with the guard / tug bar upgrade, I'll be putting the wiring harness that John made for my ex-'69 that has 500k pots and the push/pull tone pot.

Yours should already have 500K ohm pots, and the ability to annoy your audience by pulling out the push/pull is not worth the hassle of installing the new harness. Unless you really enjoy annoying your audience. Then maybe it would be worth it!

I may already be annoying the audience, Jeff!

Does your V have cartoons drawn in the control cavity? Mine has something that looks like a rabbit along with about 4 sets of signatures / initials!
Re: Model of the Week Ten: The 4001V63
Interesting. I came home last night and pulled the V out and played for about an hour before bed, then through the amp this morning, and was wondering what the tone cap would so for the tone. With the 14k pickups, it has a deeper voice. My hesitation is changing it from stock.teeder wrote:Along with the guard / tug bar upgrade, I'll be putting the wiring harness that John made for my ex-'69 that has 500k pots and the push/pull tone pot.

Don't forget my brother changed the cap in it from stock already.
The value or location excapes my memory though.
