I am really only leery of 2008 models I guess. Those are the only ones I heard horror stories about.

Speaking of 4004s I have spoken with more than one dealer on brand new in-stock 4004Cii's and they were offering me unbelievable prices. Now is definitely the time to buy, I'd say.

I have a late '08 4004cii BBR and it's flawless , perfect in everyway .

Yeah, my Nov 2008 4004 is great too...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Now that I think of it, it seems like they were all 4004L's, not 4004Cii's, that were getting brought up on various fora as having "neck issues" etc.

Regardless of all that... I'm pretty much sold on a 4004Cii some day. I actually like the warmer tone the walnut imparts, that's where the bass "is at" for me. If they ever bring back the 5er, I'll be placing an order for certain.
