Seriously? You guys have never heard of Rudy Sarzo? I'm sure you have HEARD him. He's had quite an illustrious career, playing with Quiet Riot, Ozzy Osbourne's Blizzard of Ozz band with Randy Rhoads and the "Slip of the Tongue" version of Whitesnake, among others.

Hi Tony,

When I got the CS in early 91 I was so pleased with it that I didnt even know about the certificate until someone mentioned to me that each bass should have a numbered certificate.
I wrote to our local Ric office in Bury to say thanks for all their help in getting the bass to me before it went back to the States and mentioned the certificate.
Heres the letter I got back and a good while later I got the certificate which I then lost in the post when I posted it to the Yes fan club for Chris Squire to sign it for me!
(maybe its in a drawer at Chris Squires house and he thinks its for one of his!)
I think it had Number 45 on it which was probably the next certificate in the pile when Linda Garson from Ric UK asked for one for my bass.
My CS bass never had a certificate with it because it was sent to Europe for the Frankfurt Music Fair as an exhibit and it only had a duster cloth in the case.
It was just a fluke that my old mate Dave Carr told me about the forthcoming Squire LTD Edition and I rang the guys in Bury about it and they had the only one.
Needless to say its insured for a bit more than the one at Olivias.

You have me real curious now, have you ever contact RIC directly to inquire about the build of the bass? I'm not sure if they
kept records of it....damn shame about the certificate, but as you eluded...it probably wasn't accurate anyway being you got it a while after the production was running.

I did ask if it could be a prototype but its not although it is actually more likely to be earliest production version other than any that Chris Squire may have.

Pete, does yours have the RIHS or magnetic shoes? RIHS I would think by 1990/1. Thanks for sharing the story, too. I stare at your bass daily in the hands of The Master. BTW, do you have a poster??

Non magnetic unfortunately.
I still remember the shock of our friend with an Alembic who tried my CS through the Ampeg SVT a couple of weeks after I bought it...he was convinced it was an active circuit!
I only have a photocopy of the poster.
Should have grabbed one in the 90s!
