Here's one from last year that I re-recorded after tweaking it a bit more. Any advice on production would be great. For all the faraway-eyed songwriters out there, this one's for us.

The Graveyard of Songs
For every song that’s written there’s a thousand thrown away
They catch a passing breeze and off they fly
They spin and shimmer hopefully, some lucky ones are found
But most are left to shrivel up and die
In the graveyard of songs
Where the orphan tune belongs
And abandoned melodies are laid to rest
What we write is often wrong
Could be weak and could be strong
And sometimes, at our worst, we’ll send our best
To the graveyard of songs
The graveyard of songs
When my restless heart goes roaming through its misbegotten dreams
In search of some forgotten sweet refrain
If the minutes turn to hours till the night devours the day
I’ll give up the ghost and leave it to remain
In the graveyard of songs
Where the orphan tune belongs
And abandoned melodies are laid to rest
What we write is often wrong
Could be weak and could be strong
Sometimes we even send our very best
To the graveyard of songs
The graveyard of songs
I can fish that flowing river
Feel my line rise and shiver
Yet never hook the songs I used to play
But my battered old guitar
Knows exactly where they are
It trembles when I let them slip away
To the graveyard of songs
Where the orphan tune belongs
And abandoned melodies are laid to rest
What we write is often wrong
Could be weak and could be strong
And sometimes we commend our very best
To the graveyard of songs
The graveyard of songs

Re: The Graveyard of Songs
That's really great, Mark. You know I love your stuff. Nothing wrong with the production - I think it's OK to just let the song itself take the attention in this case. I wouldn't change a thing.
It's another winner!

Very cool. I love those lyrics! Excellent.
Re: The Graveyard of Songs
I haven't heard the melody yet. But the lyrics have the same meter for the type of country-ish tunes I would write. Interesting. Like the lyrics.

Don't listen to it Jim! Write a new one!
Thanks Kira and LC! Wow, it was like George Harrison took a listen.

To join the chorus... stick a fork in it, it's done! 'nuther good one Mark!
Re: The Graveyard of Songs
Nice one, Mark. A subject near & dear - a lost song is truly a tragedy. You've captured teh sentiment nicely here, per your usual skill with lyrical scribe.
