Bassic Colors No. 6 – Precious stone: Turquoise

Post by bassduke49 »

More of a metallic blue-green, Turquoise was a moderately long-lived standard color from 1991 to 2003, according to the Rickenbacker Page color chart which credits "Rickenbacker: Pioneer of the Electric Guitar" by Rittor Music (Japan). The luscious hue is a true metallic and varied only a little over the years from dazzling to a slightly darker hue. Usually found on the standard 4003, I've also seen Turquoise on four- five- and eight-string 4003S, as well as these two rare examples: a 4004L Laredo and Steve Wood's 4001V63. Steve's shot is great. This bass is headed out of the great white north to slightly less white Wisconsin soon. So, for this week, let's post pics and discuss that precious Turquoise!

Ooh, forgot this one. Steve Wood also has this beauty, a 2060 in Turquoise:

Ha! Glad you like it.

And your Jetglo is pretty darned cool too! I like the mojo patch under your wrist!

The keyboard player in my old band saw my 4003STUR and said: "I guess it's an acquired taste!"

those are all lovely basses, but i especially like that turkwahs laredo---yum! i am advised against refinishing my 4000,which i can't afford to do anyway, but i think it would look great in that color with the black plastic....

For the longest time Jammin' Jersey had a 4003S Tur hanging up. I drooooolllled over that axe for ages. Never had the money to get it. :(

Gary, I was skeptical of TUR as a color but that bass won me over when I saw it at the SoCal in 2006. The color is even nicer in hand than in pictures.
