flat Grovers on a '72?

just purchased a MG '72 4001 - in beautiful shape, but w/ flat Grovers (bass dates to June).

anyone seen them carried-on to this time before?

I've never seen a '72 with flats.

But I do have a '71 with wavy's, which it shouldn't have. I'd gladly trade you! :mrgreen:

Yes, my June '72 4001 has the flat Grovers.

I have to take back what I said about the flaty's. The '72 that Tony speaks of was mine! :oops: :lol:

I'd still trade the wavy's though! :mrgreen:

that's a remarkable looking finish-seems not to have ambered too much,if original. beautiful bass!

yes - looks quite amazing. i had a '79 in similar condition - just enough patina to give it a vintage vibe.

hasn't arrived (or even shipped) yet, but according to the seller, just two small nicks on the back.

Nice snag, Bryce! Yes, the flat Grovers appeared on some '72 4001's...particularly the earlier ones, but as with all things RIC there is no real rule.

Paul Boyer's June '72 4001 (Now refinished) came with them:

I had a July '72 4001 that had the wavy's.

Jeff's right, my June '72 had flat Grovers. Mine is LF 500. Somebody here had one a number or two away from mine.
